Dynamic meeting of Legal Commission

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 24, 2013 – The Legal Commission of NORCECA held its annual meeting on Sunday under the presidency of Dr. Giovanni Gautreaux of Dominican Republic.

During the one-session the members worked in the update of the constitutive documents of the confederation in order to have them compatible with the FIVB constitution following the modifications operated in the last Congress in Anaheim.

“It was a very productive and dynamic meeting,” Gautreaux said. “Besides updating our constitution we also reviewed the constitutions of the zonal associations to have them in line with FIVB and NORCECA.”

Gautreaux made a report of his participation in the Sports Law Seminar held last year at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain.

During the seminar, the participants discussed the Structure of the Olympic Movement, Juridical Structure of International Volleyball, Relationship with Other International Organizations, Constitutions of FIVB, Confederations and National Federations, Sport Autonomy, Court of Arbitration for Sports and the World Anti-Doping Code, among several topics.

The commissioners also reviewed the registration of the current authorities of the different National Federations and their term of validity.
