Exciting men semis at Gatorade Guatemala BVB

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 20, 2013 - Puerto Rico, United States, Cuba, and Mexico reached the men semifinals of the Gatorade Guatemala BVB Tournament in Campo Marte, the third stop of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit.

With a great effort, Puerto Ricans Roberto Rodriguez and Erik Haddock beat Grant O’Gorman/Samuel Pedlow of Canada-A 16-21, 21-18, 18-16 in the quarterfinals.

To advance to the gold match and repeat last year’s title here in Guatemala, Rodriguez/Haddock first must win against Mexicans Ontiveros/Virgen in their semifinal.

Stafford Slick and John Mayer of USA-A defeated the home team of Andy Leonardo and Erick Garrido 21-12, 22-20 while Cubans Karell Piña and Sergio Gonzalez prevailed over Simon Blake and Daniel Williams of TRI-A by 21-16, 21-18.

Sunday’s semifinals feature Rodriguez/Haddock facing Ontiveros/Virgen and Slick/Mayer battling Piña/Gonzalez.
