PUERTO CORTES, Honduras, June 12, 2015 – The men’s teams of
Guatemala-2 (Erick Garrido/Andy Leonardo) and El Salvador-2
(Franklin Flores/Armando Guatemala) secured spots in the final
round of the XV Central American Beach Volleyball Tournament
being played at the municipal beaches of Puerto Cortes in
Honduras.
The Salvadoran pair scored a major upset by defeating the
top-seeded team of Julio Álvarez/Diego Alpizar of Costa Rica 2-1
(21-16, 13-21, 16-14) in the first match of Pool F.
Flores/Guatemala advanced to the quarterfinals following the 2-0
(21-14, 21-10) victory over Olman García/Manuel Serrano of
Honduras-2.
The second team of Guatemala also secured in Pool E its spot in
the quarterfinals after winning 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) against Luis
Baide/Wilfredo Vega of Honduras-1 and 2-0 (21-11, 21-9) over
Baydr Sajia/Ronnie Sosa of Belize.
