Semifinals are set in Boqueron Beach stop of NORCECA Circuit

CABO ROJO, Puerto Rico, July 10, 2010 - Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, USA and Costa Rica are the countries represented in the semifinals of the sixth stop of the V NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit that concludes on Sunday at Borqueron Beach.

In the men’s division the semifinalist pairs are Canada 1 (Samuel Schachter/Ray Sewell), Mexico (Ulises Ontiveros/Lombardo Ontiveros), Puerto Rico 1 (Orlando Irizarry/Robert Rodriguez) and Costa Rica (Jonathan Guevara/Alexander Villegas).

In the women’s competition the teams qualified to the semifinals are the representatives of Puerto Rico 1 (Yarleen Santiago/Dariam Acevedo), Canada 1 (Heather Bansley/Elizabeth Maloney), Canada 2 (Julie Rodrigue/Katherine Zakrzewski) and United States 1 (Tealle Hunkus/Heather Lowe).

Sunday’s action will start at 9:30 a.m. with the qualification round for the 9-12 positions.

The semifinalists will enter in action at 10:00 a.m. with the boys featuring MEX vs. PUR and CAN vs. CRC. The women’s semifinals will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with the contests of PUR vs. CAN 2 and CAN 1 vs. USA 1.

The losers of the semifinals will compete for the bronze medals starting at 1:30 p.m. in center court.

The matches for the gold medals will be disputed starting at 4:00 p.m. and will be transmitted live by DirecTV – Channel 165.

A total of 50 participants from 11 countries are competing in this NORCECA being played in the Boqueron Beach facilities that will be the site of Beach Volleyball Tournament during the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games.
