Argentina improves to 2-2 in Pool A
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico, July 4, 2011 – Argentina leveled its Pool
A record to 2-2 thanks to a straight-set victory over Chile
(25-21, 25-15, 25-15) in the fourth day of action at the Women’s
Pan American Volleyball Cup. The winless Chile fell down to 0-4.
Leticia Boscacci, one of three Argentineans who played the
entire match, led the winners with 13 points. Yael Castiglione
and Daniela Gildenberger each contributed 7 points. Chile’s
Chris Vorpahl topped the defeated side with 9 points.
“We need to keep growing up as a team,” Argentina’s setter
Castiglione said. “I think that if we play as a team there is a
good chance of going to the Grand Prix.”
“We played a good first set but then we committed many errors
and Argentina played very consistent,” Chile’s Francisca Espejo
said.
“I was not satisfied with the way my team played,” Argentinean
Horacio Bastit stated. “Our objective is to go to the Grand Prix
but we need to improve in some areas taking one game at a time.”
“We played a good first set and then went backwards,” Chile’s
Hugo Jauregui said. “Argentina kept its consistency and with us
going backwards that was the difference.” |
