Bricio scores 21 in Mexican victory

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 4, 2011 - Samantha Bricio scored 21 points, including 8 aces, to lead Mexico in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-9) over Costa Rica in Pool B of the U-18 Girls’ Pan American Cup at Baja California High Performance Center in Tijuana.

Mexicans Ana Nieto and Alejandra Isiordia registered 10 points apiece while Lizbeth Sainz contributed 9 tallies to the winning cause.

The Mexicans out-served their opponents 19-1 and the home team also had a 6-3 advantage in the blocks department.

In Tuesday’s action, the top group positions will be decided when Peru meets Dominican Republic for the supremacy in Pool A while Argentina takes on hosts Mexico for first place in Pool B.
