GATINEAU, Canada, June 14, 2011 - Argentina clinched a playoff
berth on Tuesday at the Pan Am Cup men’s volleyball tournament
following a 25-20, 25-16, 25-9 victory over the Bahamas in Pool
C on Tuesday.
The Argentineans improved their record to two wins and no losses
while the Bahamas, making its Pan Am Cup debut, dropped to 0-2.
Argentina needed to press the reset button after a slow start to
the match.

Martina added 11. Top scorers for Bahamas were team captain
Renaldo Knowles with 11 and Byron Ferguson with eight.
‘’Bahamas plays a different system from us,’’ said Argentina’s

but we made the necessary adjustments to play our game. We made
the playoffs and that was our goal coming into this
tournament.’’
‘’We played better than in our first match,’’ said Argentina’s
captain Juan Ignacio Finoli. ‘’We were tougher.’’
‘’We have some talented players,’’ added Bahamas’ head coach
Raymond Wilson. ‘’At this level you have to also be resilient
and have consistency.’’
‘’We started alright but coming down to the end of the match we
made some simple mistakes,’’ said Knowles. ‘’That just took us
out.’’
