Venezuela scores easy victory over Honduras
PANAMA CITY, Panama, June 23, 2011 – Venezuela crushed Honduras
in straight sets (25-3, 25-7, 25-9) in a match of Pool A of the
U-21 Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup.
Kevin Piñerua scored 11 points and Daniel Arteaga had 10 to lead
the Venezuelan side while Ricardo Vásquez had five points for
Honduras.
Venezuela’s coach Idolo Herrera and the captain Carlos Paez both
said afterwards that despite the result they respected an
opponent that is looking to get more experience and now they are
thinking about Panama.
Evans Torres, the coach of Honduras, said the game was a lot
different than the day before when they met Panama, an opponent
of the same level “because the Venezuelans were superiors by
far.”
Captain Jose Vásquez said: “One positive about this game is that
we learned a lot for the future.” |
