Lamboy appointed as High Performance Director in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 9, 2013 – Jaime Lamboy, president
of FIVB Legal Commission and for many years a member of NORCECA
Legal Commission has been named Director of the High Performance
Division of the Puerto Rican Olympic Committee.
Lamboy was introduced as new director by Sara Rosario, president
of the Puerto Rican Olympic Committee during a ceremony held at
the headquarters of the institution in San Juan on Tuesday.
“Mr. Lamboy has the experience in sport management with a master
degree in sport law and has all the necessary capabilities to
fulfill the position as director of the high performance
division,” Rosario said.
Rosario, who was elected to the presidency of COPUR at the end
of last year, has been busy in putting together the human
resources as the organization embraces the new Olympic cycle
which also includes the 2014 Central American and Caribbean
Games in Veracruz, Mexico, the 2015 Pan American Games in
Toronto, Canada and the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing,
China.
“To be in charge of the High Performance Division is a real
challenge,” Lamboy said. “I have the chance to work in favor of
Puerto Rican sport in a more ample way since up to now I have
worked in one discipline at a time.”
During his career, Lamboy has been Director of the Men’s
Volleyball Superior League and Director of Volleyball National
Teams. He also has worked as Director of Operations of the
Basketball National Federation.
“We will analyze all the programs, projects and formulas used
over the past four years,” Lamboy added. “Those that were
successful we are going to keep but those that didn’t work
properly we will try new strategies.” |
