Lucena/Brunner lost in semifinals

 

   

THE HAGUE, the Netherlands, July 4, 2015 – Brazil’s Alison Cerutti will compete in his third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships final after he and Bruno Schmidt defeated USA’s Theodore Brunner/Nick Lucena 21-17, 21-15 in the semifinals in The Hague on Saturday.

 

It was a simple win for the Brazilians and they will now face home heroes Reinder Nummerdor/Christian Varenhorst in the finals on Sunday in their first gold medal match of 2015.

 

Nummerdor/Varenhorst brought the atmosphere to new levels in The Hague on Saturday after they defeated Pedro Solberg/Evandro Goncalves 21-18, 21-23, 15-12 to reach their first final.

 

Lucena/Brunner will play Pedro Solberg/Evandro Goncalves for the bronze medal on Sunday.

 

It will be an All-Brazilian women’s final as Taiana Lima and Fernanda Alves defeated Germany’s Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler 2-0 (21-12, 21-15) and Barbara Bednarczuc and Agatha Seixas defeated compatriots Juliana Da Silva and María Antonelli 2-0 (24-22, 21-19)
