AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico, April 14, 2018. – Mexican Martha Revuelta and partner Zaira Orellana moved into the semifinals of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit’ s first stage in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

After a two and half year absence, Revuelta is making a strong come back with her new partner Zaira Orellana, advancing into semifinals after prevailing over Charlotte Sider/ Marie-Christine LaPointe of Canada-A  2-0 (21-13, 24-22). It wasn’t an easy task, as Revuelta and Orellana regrouped to take set two by close score.

Mexico’s opponents are top seeded Maylen De La Caridad Delis/Leila Martínez of Cuba, while the two American teams of Mackenzie Ponnet/Kimberly Smith and Brittany Howard/Kelly Reeves will face off in the other semifinal.

Maylen Delis and Leila Martinez moved a step forward after winning in quarterfinals 2-0 (21-12, 21-5) to Helene Rancourt/Sarah-Jeanne Meunier-Bedard of Canada-B.  Maylen and Leila jumped to an advantage in both sets, giving little chances for the Canadian duo to catch up with strong shots and skillful serves. This is Maylen and Leila’s fist NORCECA together.

United States-A of Mackenzie Ponnet/Kimberly Smith, won to Mexico-A of Cinthya Cruz/Claudia Rios in tie-break 2-1 (21-12, 19-21, 15-10). Ponnet and Smith struggled in set two with unforced blocking and offense errors, needing to play a third set to advance into the semifinals.

Brittany Howard/Kelly Reeves of United States-B dominated their quarterfinal match 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) against María José Quintero/ Stephanie Burnside of Mexico-C.
