Men of Guatemala and El Salvador are undefeated
SAN JUAN DEL SUR, Nicaragua - October 18, 2013 - Andy
Leonardo/Erick Garrido of Guatemala-2 , had a strong start on
the opening day of the XIII Central American Beach Volleyball
Senior Men 's Championship of Association Central American
Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL) by winning their first two
matches.
Leonardo/Garrido won 21-14, 19-21, 15-13 over Esteban
Escobar/Jonathan Guevara (CRC-1) and closed the day with a
21-14, 21-10 victory over Belize’s Karym Coleman/John Marin.
Guatemala-2 is in the first place of Pool B with one match to
play on Saturday. The first in each pool advances directly to
the semifinals and that's what Leonardo/Garrido seek when they
take on Nicaragua-1 (Ruben Mora/Miguel Lopez) who won (21-13,
19-21, 15-8) over Belize, but lost 16-21, 19-21 to
Escobar/Guevara.
In Pool A, Carlos Talavera/David Vargas of El Salvador won
22-20, 19-21, 15-11 against Gerald Umana/Henry Hernandez of
Nicaragua-2 and then defeated Julio Recinos/Luis Garcia of
Guatemala-1 by 21-16, 21-17.
Then Umana/Hernandez beat Jesus Oliva/Manuel Serrano of
Honduras 21-14, 21-18.
Oliva/ Serrano had beaten in their opening game Victor
Miranda/Luis Fernando Morúa of Costa Rica-2 by 12-21, 21-18,
15-11. |
