Mexican referee Ramirez nominated to National Award
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, November 9, 2013 – Longtime Mexican beach
volleyball referee Miguel Angel Ramírez has been nominated to
the National Sports Award, an annual recognition conceded by the
Government of Mexico through the National Council of Sports and
Physical Culture.
Ramirez, who has participated in four Olympic Games starting in
Atlanta 1996, is one of the top candidates to receive the
distinction in the Judge/Referee category.
Other categories included in the annual awards correspond to
athletes, team-sport, coaches and individuals with meritorious
career services in favor of the development of the sport in
Mexico.
Ramirez is both an FIVB International Referee and NORCECA
Referee. During his long career, he has officiated in countless
matches of the FIVB World Tour and has been very active
throughout the development of the NORCECA Circuit.
The resume of Miguelito, as he is called by his peers, also
includes regional competitions like the Pan American and Central
American and Caribbean Games.
One of the most respected referees and volleyball men in his
native Mexico as well as in the NORCECA area, Ramirez was also
nominated to the award last year.
“Las year we were very close to get it,” Ramirez said recently,
“but the most important thing is always to work and give your
best with humility and desire to serve volleyball and beach
volleyball in my country and in the world.” |
