NORCECA to organize a Sports Legislation Seminar
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 23, 2014 – NORCECA
Confederation is taking the steps to organize a seminar of
sports legislation with the participation of representatives
from the four zonal associations under its umbrella.
The proposal was presented by Jaime Lamboy, president of the
FIVB Legal Commission and member of NORCECA Legal Commission
which held its annual meeting in Santo Domingo on Saturday.
The lecturers to participate are yet to be decided but the
initiative gained the support of NORCECA President Cristobal
Marte Hoffiz, who chaired the meeting, and Nelson Ramirez,
director of the FIVB/NORCECA Regional Development Center in
Dominican Republic.
Giovanni Gautreaux, President of NORCECA Legal Commission,
welcomed the participants in the meeting informing that “we are
proud to announce that NORCECA Confederation is the first one of
the five continental institutions which forms FIVB to have its
own constitution in accordance with the one of the global
volleyball governing body.”
Lamboy made a report of the topics discussed during the FIVB
Legal Commission and the proposals to be submitted to the FIVB
Board of Administration while Gautreaux presented a detailed
report of activities performed by the different members of the
commission in 2013.
The NORCECA report included all the modifications of the
constitution approved by the Congress held in Tijuana, Mexico
last November.
Also the regulations for the Ethics Panel and Dispute
Resolutions Panel have to be implemented and Tyrone Marcus of
Trinidad and Tobago was commissioned to prepare a draft to be
discussed in the next meeting.
The meeting concluded with the NORCECA President’s report of
activities and the presentation of the qualification process to
the 2014 FIVB World Championships in Poland (men) and Italy
(women), the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China (beach
volleyball) and to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. |
