Nicaragua
improves 2-2 defeating Belize
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador,
November 15, 2013.-A solid performance from Nicaragua gave them
the win 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) over Belize at the 15th Boy’s
U21 Central American Championship.
Nicaragua applied well for a
firm victory that put them in the fight for to remain in the
first positions of the competition, while Belize lacked energy
that has characterized them during previous performances.
It was an important win for
Nicaragua in straight sets to improve their record 2-2 and
adding five points to their overall score, for a total of 14
points. Nicaragua blocked Belize with 7-3 advantage in that
category and also held advantage in service points by 6-1.
ChristoferLazo of Nicaragua
tallied 15 points, including 3 blocks and Kevin Duarte added 12
points. Raluni Bernardez topped Belize with 11 points, 10 in
kills.
“We left behind yesterday’s
loss, today was a new day and we played more confident and
stable, mostly to finish in three sets” indicated captain Brayan
Orozco of Nicaragua.
“The team fell short on our
game plan, our defense was poor, we weren’t being efficient; I
really can’t explain what happened” said captain Yserri Palacio
of Belize.
Coach Osman Hernandez was
satisfied of the straight set win, he said “this is a good win
for us, they boys were more dedicated and after Guatemala lost
to Honduras they were more motivated to get in the fight. I hope
we’ll do better tomorrow against Costa Rica”.
Coach Leslie Leon explained
that Nicaragua’s urgency to win was stronger than his team
“Nicaragua wanted it more than us, my guys gave up”. |
