St. Kitts & Nevis ensures semi final berth with victory over Grenada

St. Johns, Antigua, November 23, 2012 - St. Kitts & Nevis recorded the second victory in the East Caribbean Volleyball Association Senior Women Championship when they defeated Grenada 3-0   (25-16, 26-24 and 26-24).

Grenada showed a much improved performance over their earlier encounter but still went down in straight sets.

I am happy for the win but it did not come as easy as expected. Once again we blew them away in the first set but some unexplainable lapses crept in. Fortunately we relied on our experience to push us over the hump", revealed Coach Steadroy Collins of St. Kitts & Nevis .

Captain Antoinette Henry of St. Kitts & Nevis   had high praise for the opponents. "They really played well and showed high energy which surprised us somewhat. Thankfully we were able to rely on our collective years of experience to win this one," she reported.

Coach Adam Lafueillee of Grenada agonized over the defeat. We got our defensive work going and the hitting of Stafford through the middle was effective but our outside hitting let us down," he said.

Marginee Ampofo the captain of Grenada showed some disappointment as well. "It is really hard to be so close and yet so far and even more painful to know that it is as a result of some simple errors," she said.

Renisha Stafford was virtually unstoppable chalking up 23 points including 21 spikes but she ended on the losing side. Brenda Allen led the winners with 16 points which included 15 spikes.
