Dominica tops Group B with win over St. Kitts/Nevis
St. Johns, Antigua, November 24, 2012- The fight for pole
position in Group B was won by Dominica over St. Kitts/Nevis by
3 sets to one (25-16; 25 -21,22-25 and 25 22 ) as the East
Caribbean Volleyball Association Senior Women Championship
entered it semifinal stage.
Dominica appeared the more hungry team evidence by high energy
and defensive commitment that carried them to victory.
Coach Albert Loblack of Dominica continued in his confident
vein. "It appeared as if it was a case of who wanted it more and
we proved to be more ready, apart from the third set where we
lost focus and allowed St. Kitts/Nevis back in the game. I must
commend them however for displaying true grit in defense," he
said.
His opposite number in Steadroy Collins blamed the loss on game
composure. "I think we were too excited and too hyped coming
into the game and hence rushed our game in the early parts.
Added to that our usual attack was definitely off," he reported.
Captain Antoinette Henry was optimistic despite the defeat." All
is not yet lost. We have been in this position before and came
out victors and we intend to do the same thing," she promised.
