Olympian Lisvel Eve sustains serious leg fracture

LIMA, Peru, February 17, 2013 – Olympian Lisvel Eve, one of the most promising players of the Dominican Republic women’s national team, sustained a serious exposed double fracture of her left tibia and fibula in a match of the Peruvian National League on Saturday night.

Eve, an outside-hitter who took part in the 2012 London Olympic Games, suffered the injury after landing following a spike attempt in the first set of a match of her Deportivo Geminis Club against San Martin at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Lima.

The match was suspended while players from both teams surrounded the 21-year-old player before she was taken to Casimiro Ulloa Hospital and underwent a surgery procedure to stabilize her leg, informed the Peruvian National Federation.

Eve, who has played in the Puerto Rican League in three different seasons, had just reported to Deportivo Geminis after rehabbing from a surgery in the now reinjured leg.

Last year, Eve played a key role as the Dominican Republic won the gold medal of the U-23 Women’s Pan American Cup held in Lima.
