Puerto Rican beach teams continue to train
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 22, 2018 – The Puerto Rican beach
volleyball teams continue their preparation toward the NORCECA
Central Zone Qualification Tournament for the Youth Olympic
Games Argentina 2018 to be held in Havana Cuba.
The teams that earned the right to represent their country after
dominating the Under-Age National Tournament organized by the
Puerto Rican Federation, have been training hard for two weeks
under the supervision of national coach Alexis Feliciano.
The teams to participate in Cuba are William Rivera and Randall
Santiago in the boys’ division and Allanis Navas and María
González in the girls’ event
“We will have only 11 weeks of preparation and that includes
the technical and tactical scheme on the sand, the physical
preparation and a tournament in Florida,” said Feliciao.
Both teams will be seeking to repeat the representation of
Puerto Rico in the Youth Olympic Games. In the last edition held
in Nanjing, China where they finished fifth in the boys’
division and ninth in the girls’ division
The NORCECA Central Zone Tournament will have teams from Cuba,
United States, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Puerto
Rico.
The tournament will take place at Cuban National Volleyball
School in Havana on May 26-27. The top two teams per gender earn
tickets to Buenos Aires, Argentina next October. |
