Puerto Rico closed camp with five-set win
SAITAMA, Japan, September 28, 2018 – Players of Puerto Rico
women’s national team departed to Hamamatsu with a good flavor
in their mouths after closing their training period in Saitama
with a five-set victory over the local team Ageo Medics that
participates in the Japanese V League.
The score of the roller coaster match was 3-2 (21-25, 25-21,
25-20, 19-25 15-11) before traveling to Hamamatsu to play in
Pool D of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship.
Stephanie Enright and Daly Santana finished the contest with 27
and 23 points, respectively, and Diana Reyes added 19, including
7 blocks.
The team of Puerto Rico scored 19 points via blocks and also
showed a very good offensive service.
“I am satisfied with the job done by the group as we fulfilled
the goals planned for this training camp,” said Coach José
Mieles. “The blocking left its mark Diana did an excellent job
with quick movements to reach the corners. We have to continue
working with the serves but we had good moments.”
Puerto Rico debuts against Brazil on September 29. The other
teams in Pool D are Kazakhstan, Kenya, Serbia and Dominican
Republic. |
