Refereeing commission discusses new rules

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 20, 2013 – The NORCECA Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Refereeing Commission held its annual two-day meeting at the organization headquarters on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

The members of the commission, presided over by José Ramón Pérez Vento, received the reports of Guy Bradbury (volleyball) and Andre Trottier (beach volleyball) corresponding to last year’s competition within NORCECA and of recent meetings in FIVB.

 

Among other topics, Bradbury, member of the FIVB Rules of the Game commission, explained the change of the rule regarding the serve reception while Trottier referred to the new rules of beach volleyball.

 

Doug Wilson made reported on the development of female referees within NORCECA in 2012 and Perez Vento presented the list of NORCECA referees of both genders in the categories of International, Candidate and Continental.

 

It was also discussed the use of audio visual system for the daily meetings during the competitions and the electronic scoring sheet.

 

Medical doctor Victor Figueroa made a presentation of the physical evaluation of the referees during the NORCECA tournaments with the recommendations to all those who went under the check procedures.
