Regional Development Center starts Referee courses in Puerto Rico

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, January 18, 2024. - The NORCECA-FIVB Regional Volleyball Development Center will begin the continental courses for indoor and beach volleyball referees this Friday in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the participation of representatives from ten countries.

 

The courses will run from January 19 to 24, with the support of the North, Central American, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation NORCECA, along with the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, at the Olympic Housing and the beach volleyball courts in Guayama.

 

Dr. César Trabanco, president of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, expressed his immediate approval to host these important training workshops upon receiving the proposal to host both courses from the director of the Regional Center Professor Nelson Ramírez and NORCECA President Cristóbal Marte.

 

Professor Ramírez expressed his satisfaction to be conducting these courses on the “Island of Enchantment”, home to one of the best continental tournaments. He highlighted that the instructors for the courses will be Guy Bradbury, president of the NORCECA Referee Commission, and André Trottier, member and beach volleyball coordinator of the same Commission. Additionally, both are members of the FIVB World Referee Commission.

 

With this activity, the NORCECA Confederation and the Development Center starts to prepare referees who will officiate in the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games to take place in the Dominican Republic.
