Castro Verdugo has plenty experience as organizer
Anaheim, USA, September 25, 2012 – The cities of Tijuana and
Mexicali in the State of Baja California once again will host an
age-group FIVB World Championship next year and the organizing
committee made an updated detailed report about the works
currently in progress.
The Organizing Committee of the FIVB Boy’s Youth World
Championship will be chaired by Saul Castro Verdugo, general
director of the Baja California Sport and Physical Culture
Institute, who was selected as member of the FIVB Executive
Committee at the end of the 33rd World Congress of
the institution.
A very attractive brochure, whose content includes the lodging
and transportation for the 20 participating teams and the FIVB
officials, was distributed during the three-day meeting of more
than 200 National Federations affiliated.
Castro Verdugo was also the president of the Organizing
Committee of the 2007 Boy’s Youth World Championship, the 2007
Girl’s Youth World Championship and the 2009 Women’s Junior
World Championship. All those events surpassed the FIVB
requirements and confirmed the reputation of the organizers as
high quality managers.
“We have organized many international volleyball events, like
Pan American Cups and NORCECA Continental Championships as well
as several world events in other disciplines like diving and
taekwondo,” Castro Verdugo explained. “So the experience is
there with a group of well trained people in the different areas
to secure the smooth running of the event.”
Like in the previous world events, the competition venues will
be the Multi-Sports Gymnasium in Tijuana and the State
Auditorium in Mexicali. The hotels in Tijuana will be Gran
Tijuana and Fiesta Inn while in Mexicali will be Araiza and
Lucerna.
“Baja California waits for all of you with open arms to once
again offer the volleyball family our traditional hospitality,”
Castro Verdugo Said.
Several representatives of the Organizing Committee made the
trip to Anaheim and took the opportunity to distribute t-shirts
and other promotional items. The group included Alberto Arreola,
president of the Baja California Volleyball Association, and
Jorge Almada, director or public relations and promotions.
The other Junior FIVB World Championships of next year will be
in Izmir and Ankara, Turkey (Men) and Brno and Prosthejov, Czech
Republic (Women). The Girl’s Youth Championship will visit the
city of Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand. |
