TIJUANA, México, April 2, 2015 - The Baja California Girls
Invitational Cup begins on Friday at the High Performance Center
in the city of Tijuana.
The U18 and U16 teams of Argentina and Peru as well as the
Provincial squads of the U16, U18 and U18 categories of Baja
California will play for this year’s champions trophy in a three
day tournament.
Argentina arrived in Tijuana last week after conquering the
Girls’ U18 Pan American Cup in Habana, Cuba. Along with the
Argentinean, the U16 Peruvian team also confirmed their
participation at the event that has been preceded by a training
camp.
The South American squads prepare for the FIVB Age Group World
Championship that will be played in Peru on August, while the
Baja California Girls teams will take the best from this cup in
order to prepare for the National Junior Olympic tournaments
that are scheduled on May and will be played in the City of
Monterrey, Mexico.
Both, Argentina and Peru have played some scrimmage matches
against the Baja Californian teams at the Multipurpose Gym as
part of the preparation. The competition begins on Friday at
10:00 in the morning (local time) with Peru and Baja California
U18 opening the actions.
After that match, the Baja U16 team will play against Baja U18
at 11:30 AM. Argentina and Baja U20 will play at 1:00 PM to
close he morning session, while in the afternoon Baja U18 will
match Baja U20 at 4:00 PM and Peru will play against Baja U20 at
5:30 PM. The evening session has only one match scheduled at
7:00 PM between Baja U20 and Argentina.
The activities on Saturday will begin at noon when Baja U20 play
against Baja U16 , that will also play Argentina at 1:30. This
match will be followed by the South American Derby between
Argentina and Peru at 3:00, while the final match of the Day 2
will be between Baja U20 and Argentina.
Semifinals are scheduled on Sunday 5, beginning at 9:00 AM. The
third best ranked team of the regular phase will match the
second one, while the number one will play against number 4.
Winners will play the final, while losers will play for the
third place that is scheduled at noon, while the match for golf
is expected to begin at 1:30. Immediately after the final, the
Award Ceremony will take place at the Multipurpose Gym of the
Baja California High Performance Centre.
Medals will be given to the first three places, and also the Cup
wil be given to the Champions. |
