Tijuana prepares to host Children's Volleyball Festival 

 

TIJUANA, Mexico, December 15, 2016 – The updates of the Children´s International Volleyball Festival were presented during the last meeting held at the FIVB-Norceca Regional Development Centre.

 

On behalf of the Centre General Director, Saul Castro Verdugo, the Operations Director, Alberto Arreola conducted the meeting in company of coaches and technical staff. 

 

“We want to get the best of this experience, it is our first time in a festival like this as we prepare to host a good event,” Arreola stated.

 

“The festivals have been successful in several countries in South America, Europe, Africa and Asia for example,” he added. 

 

The Operations Director, who is also member of the FIVB Financial Commission mentioned that volleyball is a sport with a great social responsibility worldwide.

 

“We have seen the FIVB reports and there have been very important initiatives promoted by the International Federation, such as a scholar development programme in Somalia, for example,” he remarked.

 

“Also the United Nations promoted a women´s tournament in Afghanistan as we have seen in the Federation’s website during our preparation meetings. Volleyball has a great projection as a sport. We as development center, also want and are proud to be part of this.”

 

A press conference is programmed on Friday 16 at 1:00 PM, local time, as well as a general rehearsal and inspection in the evening. A streaming service will be available to follow up the activities after the first tests took part on Wednesday.

 

International instructors will come to Mexico. Cuban Argelio Hernandez is confirmed to arrive in Tijuana for the final stage of the Mini Volleyball Regional Seminar. Also Puerto Rican Juan Cartagena is expected to direct the festival clinics.
