USA edges Puerto Rico in five sets

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 6, 2016 - United States defeated Puerto Rico in five sets to advance to the final of the NORCECA U18 Continental Championship and qualify for the FIVB World Championship.

 

The scores of the match were 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10.

 

United States will face Dominican Republic in the finals (20:00 - Local Time) while Puerto Rico will play for third place against Mexico at 18:00 (local time).

 

"A hard-fought match, Puerto Rico presented a high level. We are very happy to qualify for the World Championship. Now the next goal is the gold tomorrow against Dominican Republic. We must prepare for a great opponent," said Erin Virtue, USA head coach

 

The best scorers of the match for USA were Harley Warner with 16 points and Logan Eggleston with 15. Solimar Cestero led Puerto Rico with 10 points.
