Venezuela claim second tournament win against Mexico

Uberlandia, Brazil, October 9, 2013 - Venezuela claimed their second win at the Men's U23 World Championship with a 3-1 (21-17, 21-12, 16-21, 21-15) victory against Mexico on day four of competition at the Arena Presidente Tancredo Neves.

A day after getting their first win of the tournament against Australia, Venezuela added a second against Mexico and their final pool match against Iran will now decide who finishes third in pool B.

Venezuela's blocking game produced 12 points, while captain Pinerua Urbina was the match's top scorer with 19. Despite being on the losing team, Mexico's Rincon earned his highest points total (17) of the tournament.

Ahmed Shafik, Egypt player: "Argentina it's a very good team. We did our best, but they are stronger than us, and we had no luck to play at their level. All the matches against these strong teams are good for us, to grow in volleyball and to think in the main national team."

Ezequiel Palacios, Argentina player: "We finally achieved something we were lacking, to win without any low moments in our game. We played more relaxed and tried to keep our errors at a minimum, and the things went the way we planned. We had a long talk to regroup and regain confidence. Now we have a very difficult match against Bulgaria, but it's not impossible. We are very motivated, we want to play right now."

After Thursday's rest day, it's the final round of pool matches with Venezuela playing Iran for third place in pool B, while Mexico face the group's other winless team Australia.
