Wong and Ramirez attend PASO General Assembly

 

TORONTO, Canada, October 11, 2013 – Lima, the capital of Peru, was elected by an overwhelming vote on Friday as the host city for the 2019 edition of the Pan American Games.

 

Lima received 31 votes in the first round of voting against 9 each for Santiago, Chile and La Punta, Argentina. Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela was next with 8.

 

FIVB delegate Hugh Wong of Canada and Nelson Ramirez of Dominican Republic, General Secretary of the Volleyball Pan American Union, attended the three-day General Assembly of the Pan American Sport Organization (PASO) presided over by Mario Vásquez Raña of Mexico.

 

While in Toronto, Wong and Ramirez had the opportunity to discuss the organization process of the volleyball and beach volleyball competition for the XVII Pan American Games in 2015, including the manuals and potential test events.

 

They also visited the official competition venue for the volleyball event and the site for the beach volleyball tournament.

 

Both Wong and Ramirez expressed their satisfaction with the current stage of the organization saying everything is advancing according to the foreseen chronogram.
